The Cuban exile community gathered at the "Free Cuba Rally" in Hialeah responded with applause on Tuesday to the proposal of promoting Marco Rubio as a presidential candidate for 2028.

During her speech, the Cuban-American state senator Ileana García openly suggested that the current Secretary of State may be considering a presidential run in the United States, which elicited a standing ovation from those present.

"Marquito Rubio for president 2028," he proclaimed from the stage, followed by chants of "Rubio" from the audience at the event.

The legislator highlighted Rubio's role in American politics and his understanding of Cuban realities, in a context where the exile community maintains high expectations for the future of the island.

The moment was accompanied by supportive slogans for President Donald Trump, reflecting the backing from some members of the exile community for his administration and his stance against the Cuban regime.

The rally, held at Milander Park, brought together political leaders, activists, and artists for a day focused on advocating for freedom for Cuba and promoting political actions from the United States.

The audience's reaction reflected the support of a segment of the Cuban community in South Florida for figures like Rubio, whom they see as a potentially key player in the political landscape of the coming years.
