Alexander Otaola, president of the Cuban Anti-Communist Foundation, demanded this Tuesday from the Trump administration real actions against the Communist Party of Cuba during his speech at the Free Cuba Rally held at Milander Park, Hialeah, Florida, in front of thousands of Cuban-Americans who chanted "Cuba Next!" and "Freedom".
"We want actions, not words. Real actions, decisive actions that free the Cuban people from this cursed, miserable, and murderous yoke. It is time to put an end to the Communist Party," declared Otaola.
The Cuban-American influencer went further and demanded the eradication of the PCC "forever from Cuban society," disqualifying it for "20 centuries," while rejecting any transition formula that would preserve the ruling party.
"It is time to eradicate forever from Cuban society that miserable left that has harmed all our people. Cuba is next!" he stated.
Otaola also appealed directly to the suffering of Cubans on the island. "The messages I receive daily from Cuba begin with a prayer: When are you coming to save us?"
The influencer dismissed any argument that would downplay the pressure of exile. "It is not more powerful than the pain of a people after 67 years, a small group of leftist activists who enjoy five-star hotels while the people have nothing to eat and cannot sleep due to blackouts."
The Free Cuba Rally gathered in Hialeah leaders and activists from the Cuban exile community, organized by the City of Hialeah and the Cuban Anti-Communist Foundation under the leadership of Mayor Bryan Calvo, who is 28 years old.
The event also featured figures such as Rosa María Payá, José Daniel Ferrer, Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, and Senator Ileana García, along with performances by Yotuel Romero, Gente de Zona, and El B.
Hialeah, with approximately 80% of its residents being Cuban-Americans, is the epicenter of the Cuban exile community in Florida.
The event is part of the #CubaNext campaign, which Otaola has promoted with a strong message to the U.S. during the previous week with caravans in Calle Ocho, Houston, Orlando, and Miami, seeking to pressure Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to act toward Cuba with the same determination they showed in Venezuela.
High-tension political context between the United States and Cuba
At the beginning of March, President Trump declared that the government of Cuba is talking to Marco Rubio and stated: "We will do something very soon."
Additionally, he publicly stated: "I will take Cuba in some way... whether I liberate it or take it, I believe I can do whatever I want with it. It could be a friendly takeover. It might not be. It wouldn't matter."
The regime responded with a defensive stance. The Cuban Deputy Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío stated on March 22 in NBC that Cuba is preparing its army in response to Trump's insinuations.
Otaola concluded his speech in Hialeah with a message of hope for Cubans both on the island and in exile. "Freedom is in the air."
