Valeria Andrea Aguilar, 29 years old and a resident of Hialeah, was arrested on Wednesday after chasing and assaulting another woman at the Costco gas station located at 7795 West Flagler Street, in West Miami-Dade, following the victim's suggestion to revoke her membership to the establishment, according to Telemundo 51.
According to the arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office collected by the outlet, the incident began around 1:40 p.m., when Aguilar "was shouting at other customers" and at the gas station employee.
The victim, who was driving a Subaru Forester, approached in her vehicle and asked the worker to revoke Aguilar's Costco membership due to his inappropriate behavior.
Instead of calming down, Aguilar ran after the victim's vehicle and then got into his Toyota Corolla to chase her for about half a mile, up to the intersection of Northwest Seventh Street and 82nd Avenue.
There, Aguilar confronted the woman, who had the driver's window open, and struck her on the head. Additionally, according to the report, "he grabbed the victim's clothing and scratched her face, arms, and chest."
The victim, fearing for their life, "armed themselves with an axe/multitool and began to strike the accused" before leaving the scene, according to the police report.
Multiple wounds
The accused suffered lacerations on her face and arms, in addition to bruises, scratches, and injuries to her nose.
Aguilar was arrested at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she received medical attention for the injuries caused by the victim's tool, before being taken to jail. Her mugshot shows several sutured wounds on her face, as well as facial tattoos.
He faces a charge of aggravated assault causing bodily harm, a first-degree felony in Florida that can carry penalties of up to 30 years in prison.
This type of incident is not isolated in Miami-Dade, considered the most dangerous county in Florida for driving and the third in the country for road rage incidents, with a score of 56.15 in aggressive driving according to data from 2025.
At the hearing held on Thursday, a judge ordered that Aguilar remain detained without the right to bail and imposed the condition of staying away from Costco and the alleged victim.
