Cuban meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez stated this Sunday that, despite being at the most critical point of the hurricane season, no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the next seven days.

The information was posted by the specialist on their Facebook account, where they explained that the tropical wave moving through the Atlantic has lost all chances of development due to unfavorable conditions.

Ruisánchez recalled, however, that the calm could be temporary, as the season is still active and other systems may form later on.

"It is important to stay informed and always check the date and source of publications to avoid misinformation and alarmism," he warned.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and September typically sees the highest number of events.

At the moment, the news provides a sigh of relief for Cuba and the Caribbean, after weeks of intense weather monitoring.

These good news come just hours after experts announced that a large area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic kept meteorologists on alert, due to its high potential to develop into a depression or tropical storm in the coming days, heading towards the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported on Friday that the system, identified as AL91, was located in the eastern tropical Atlantic and was producing an disorganized area of rain and thunderstorms.
