The Cuban reggaeton artist Abel Díaz Rodríguez, known artistically as El Chulo, is said to have been the victim of a beating inside the ICE detention center in Homestead, Florida, known among migrants as “Alligator Alcatraz,” according to an urgent report shared on social media.

According to the post shared in the artist's Instagram stories, in that immigration facility, “the human rights of the detainees are being violated,” and the singer was reportedly violently removed from his cell and beaten for no reason after protesting the lack of medical attention for a diabetic immigrant.

"We denounce the abuse against Abel Díaz 'El Chulo', who was beaten and taken out of his cell without reason, following protests over the lack of medication for a diabetic detainee," the text states.

The complaint also warns about inhumane conditions within the center, including the lack of medication supplies for people with chronic illnesses.

The published message adds that the officers at the center would be repeatedly photographing the reggaeton artist's tattoos, supposedly to try to link him with the gang Latin Kings, something they label as "a completely false accusation".

"Officials have been repeatedly photographing his tattoos to falsely link him to the Latin Kings gang," the publication reports.

The statement mentions several detainees identified as Yunier Rojas, Jorge Luis Díaz, Carlos Ponce, Oniel Gómez, and Guillermo Nápoles as witnesses.

The text concludes by demanding an "immediate investigation and respect for human rights."

The report comes just days after El Chulo broke his silence from the immigration detention center, where he described extreme conditions and claimed he was experiencing the worst moment of his life.

In a telephone conversation with journalist Maylin Legañoa, the artist stated that they are only allowed to shower twice a week, that lights are kept on constantly, and that there are detainees who do not receive medication even with prescriptions.

“This is the worst I've ever been through in my life”, he said at that time.

The reggaeton artist was arrested on January 22, as confirmed by journalist Mario J. Pentón, who indicated that the arrest was related to an outstanding deportation order.
