An international coalition of social movements announced the dispatch of the first humanitarian aid shipment to Cuba as part of the maritime initiative Flotilla “Nuestra América”, which is set to reach the island next month.
According to the organizers on the social network X, the caravan is already underway, and an initial delegation has set off for Cuba with essential supplies intended for the population.
"The Our America Caravan is already underway. Today, the first delegation departs for Cuba, carrying critical humanitarian aid for the people of the island," they stated in a press release.
The flotilla, organized by leftist groups and regime supporters, aims to transport food, medicine, and other basic supplies amid the economic and energy crisis the country is experiencing.
According to the promoters of the initiative, the project also aims to "break the blockade" imposed by the United States on Cuba, while seeking to highlight the challenges faced by the population.
The organizers assured that the action responds to a rapidly deteriorating situation on the island, characterized by fuel shortages, prolonged blackouts, and a lack of supplies in hospitals and pharmacies.
The "Nuestra América" Flotilla joins other international initiatives aimed at channeling aid to Cuba amidst a context of increasing internal crisis and deterioration of living conditions.
