President Donald Trump published a message this Thursday on Truth Social in which he explicitly conditioned the presence of all U.S. military forces deployed in the region on the signing and full compliance of what he called a "real agreement" with Iran.
In the text, Trump was emphatic: "All ships, aircraft, and military personnel of the U.S., along with additional ammunition, weaponry, and everything that is appropriate and necessary for the pursuit and lethal destruction of an enemy that has already been substantially degraded, will remain in place, in Iran and its surroundings, until the actual agreement reached is fully complied with."
The leader sternly warned about the consequences of non-compliance: "If for any reason it is not fulfilled, which is very unlikely, then the shooting will start, bigger, better, and stronger than anything anyone has ever seen."
He also mentioned two non-negotiable conditions that, he claimed, were agreed upon "a long time ago": zero nuclear weapons for Iran and the safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
"Meanwhile, our great Army is preparing and resting, looking ahead, in fact, to its next conquest. 'The United States has returned!'" he concluded.
This new warning arrives a day after Trump announced a two-week bilateral ceasefire, contingent upon Tehran agreeing to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran pleaded for a ceasefire, according to the Secretary of Defense, and the White House spokesperson regarding the agreement reached.
High-level conversations between the U.S. and Iran continue to progress, with formal negotiations scheduled for this Friday in Islamabad.
The closure of the Strait of Hormuz drove the price of Brent crude from 67 to over 126 dollars.
Operation Epic Fury—launched on February 28 jointly by the U.S. and Israel—destroyed Iran's nuclear program, eliminated 90% of the regime's missiles and 95% of its drones, and resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on March 1.
