A new accident has caused concern among residents of a street in Matanzas, where a truck with a container knocked down two poles and left telephone wires scattered across the roadway.

The alert was shared on Facebook by journalist Pedro Rizo Martínez, who urged drivers and pedestrians to take extra precautions due to the danger posed by fallen wires.

According to residents in the area, the truck driver stayed at the scene for a while after the collision, but then left.

The incident created moments of tension among those living nearby, who feel once again exposed to a risky situation.

A neighbor described the curve as particularly dangerous due to the reduction of the road to a single lane and the absence or deterioration of signage.

"Without signals, all lost, and several people have died in that curve," he pointed out.

The shared images show downed poles and numerous cables spread across the asphalt, where cars and motorcycles are forced to maneuver to avoid them.

As of the time this information was written, it had not been confirmed whether the remains had been removed or if the affected service had been restored.

Repeated incidents involving poles and electrical lines

The episode adds to a series of citizen reports from various provinces regarding the collapse of electric and telecommunications poles, as well as vehicle collisions with these structures.

On social media, users have documented damage to buses, interruptions in electric and telephone service, and risks for residents and passersby in crowded areas.

In October of last year, in Santiago de Cuba, a utility pole collapsed in the late afternoon to evening at the intersection of Carnicería, between Callejón del Carmen and Enramadas, a central and heavily trafficked area.

The incident caused power lines to fall, leaving several homes without electricity or telecommunication services.

Neighbors had previously warned about the visible deterioration of the structure, which showed cracks at the base and signs of wear. Although there were no casualties, significant material damage was reported.

In July, in Havana, a car collided with a pole in front of the Mantilla cinema, in Arroyo Naranjo. According to witnesses, the vehicle remained at the site for several hours, and the absence of authorities at the scene was notable.

Also in Santiago de Cuba, at the beginning of June, an official car crashed into a pole during a nighttime blackout. The vehicle belonged to the municipal government and was driven by the mayor's driver from San Luis, who was with his girlfriend.

A month earlier, in May, another driver lost control of his car after falling asleep and crashed into a pole in the La Timba neighborhood, in the Plaza municipality, in the capital.

These incidents reflect a pattern related to both the state of the infrastructure and vehicular traffic, which are frequently reported and denounced by citizens on digital platforms.

The most recent case in Guachinango and Calzada del Naranjal once again highlights the vulnerability of poles and overhead lines in urban areas and the risk they pose when they collapse in the middle of public streets.
